Amritsar, NFAPost: Facebook-owned cross-platform messaging service WhatsApp has announced roll out of new features to enhance the design and usability of its application.
The new features that would be available in the next few weeks on the latest version of WhatsApp application include Animated Stickers, QR codes, Dark mode for web and desktop, improved video calls, and disappearing status feature for KaiOS.
New Updates
QR codes: Adding contacts to phone book would get easier and time-saving with the QR code feature, as with this a user just needs to scan and save the number, instead of typing out the numbers.
Animated Stickers: Under this feature, users would get animated sticker packs to choose from to make their chatting experience fun. Once chosen and downloaded, users can view, save, send, star and forward the animated stickers. WabetaInfo, the WhatsApp feature tracker, however, has said that there is a slight lag in this feature, as the animated stickers play only once, and lack a loop system. Users also cannot replay the animated stickers again.
Dark mode for the web: Users can now switch to dark mode on the web version of WhatsApp, similar to the option that was released long ago for mobile phones.
Enhanced group video calls: In April this year, WhatsApp had extended the group video call limit to eight participants from four earlier. Now the messaging platform is adding special features to it, wherein a user can focus and maximise a single participant’s video on their screen by pressing and holding on the image tile. WhatsApp has also added a video icon to group chats that has eight ot less people, so that users can simply tap on the video icon to start a group call.
Disappearing Status feature for KaiOS: As part of the new features roll out, KaiOS users will also get the disappearing status feature, which the Android and iOS users already have.
